Amanda Domingo Ybanez was born into a Filipino immigrant household and grew up in public housing in Kalihi. She is the second person in her family educated in America, and she has spent more than a decade serving her community, including as a member and chair of the Kalihi-Palama Neighborhood Board. She has brought community leaders together on concerns facing Kalihi and the urban core, and has stood with hotel workers during strikes. She describes herself not as a politician but as a community advocate running to be a voice for the working class, the underserved and those who suffer silently.

The Cost of Living in Kalihi
The rising cost of living is the top issue in the district, and the local economy is friendly to neither businesses nor residents. Amanda is running to change that.
Public Safety and Protecting the Vulnerable
Amanda wants violent crimes charged quickly, a dedicated unit to combat human and sex trafficking, and no time limit on prosecuting sexual assault against a woman, child or kupuna.
Emergency Powers That Work

After recent disasters, Amanda argues the state must first coordinate the emergency powers it already has before reaching for new ones.

Election Integrity

Amanda supports automatic voter registration paired with a voter identification requirement, and banning campaign contributions from companies with substantial foreign ownership.
