Bob McDermott served as both an enlisted Marine and an officer, and is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He served 16 years in the Hawaii House of Representatives and was twice the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate. He blew the whistle on the Red Hill fuel storage facility, relentlessly demanding its closure over the aquifer that supplies Oahu's drinking water. He secured approximately $80 million for a new building at Campbell High School, along with a number of smaller local projects. He and his wife Utufa'asili have been married 39 years, raised eight children, and have more than 20 grandchildren.

Bob called for a state of emergency over the Red Hill fuel facility months before the leak that poisoned the water supply for thousands of families. He has demanded the facility's closure ever since, and he will keep the pressure on until the cleanup is finished.

Protect Parents' Rights

Bob believes parents deserve transparency and a voice in their children's education, especially when it comes to what young students are learning in the classroom.

Create Good-Paying Local Jobs

As Senator, Bob will insist that military lease negotiations deliver real benefits for our community, including strong job opportunities for local workers. As a veteran Marine officer who served in Desert Storm, he knows how to get things done.
