Elle Cochran

West Maui

House District 14

Elle Cochran has represented House District 14 since 2022 and served on the Maui County Council for West Maui from 2011 to 2018. She was born in Wailuku and has lived her whole life in Lahaina. She founded the Save Honolua Coalition, served on the National Ocean Council, and has consulted for Na Mea Ike Ia. She is a black belt in Taekwondo and surfs Lahaina waters. In March 2026 she joined the House Republican caucus, saying the response and recovery after the 2023 Lahaina fire made clear her district needed a stronger voice, and that Hawaii works best when different perspectives are debated openly. She took 63.7 percent of the Republican primary vote in August. She is a fire survivor herself, and rebuilding Lahaina remains the center of her work.

Elle founded the Save Honolua Coalition and has spent two decades defending West Maui's shoreline, water and open space from development that would put them out of reach.
